What gitRanked Does

gitRanked is a browser extension that displays contributor trust scores on GitHub pull requests. It helps maintainers identify reliable contributors based on their contribution history.

Data We Collect

GitHub Account Information

When you sign in with GitHub, we receive:

  • Your GitHub username
  • Your GitHub profile avatar URL

We use this to identify you and display your own rank in the extension.

Authentication Token

We store a secure authentication token locally in your browser to keep you signed in. This token is never shared with third parties.

Contribution Data

We analyze public GitHub contribution data (pull requests, merge rates, CI results) to calculate trust scores. This data is already publicly available on GitHub.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not track your browsing history
  • We do not collect personal information beyond your GitHub username
  • We do not sell or share your data with third parties
  • We do not use cookies for tracking

Where Data Is Stored

  • Authentication tokens are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage API
  • Rank data is cached locally to improve performance
  • Our backend servers (gitrankednow.com) store calculated trust scores

Third-Party Services

GitHub: We use GitHub OAuth for authentication and access public repository data through GitHub's API

Your Rights

You can:

  • Sign out at any time to remove your local authentication data
  • Request deletion of your data by contacting us
